My Coastal Chalkboard Sign!

Lets get Chalkin...

When going to the hardware store one day I saw a huge can of chalk paint I could not resist buying! I had a old dorm room mirror that was just put away in the back of the closet so I got it out and chalked the glass portion. I absolutely love the beach and have shells for days covering my house so I thought what would be better then covering the mirror with shells. Charlie hung it up in our kitchen and it is such a fun thing to look at!

Driftwood Wall Art

Charlie and I have been in our house for two months now and still have yet to hang up pictures. There was so much empty space  that needed to be filled so I got straight to work. I went to the salvation army thrift shop and loaded up on a bunch of antique frames and a few other nic nacs. I went to lowes and picked up some nails, three pieces of wood that were 3'X6'', and one long thin piece of wood to hold it all together.

First I stained all the wood and painted my picture frame that I will later hang up. I had two white letters that were once plain and hanging on our wall at our old house and decided to spruce them up with some of stuff I found on the beach. To put it all together I hand sawed the long piece of wood in half and nailed it to the back to hold the boards in place. To finish it off I nailed in nails just like I was hanging a picture and put our wedding photo and the drift wood letters up...
and VOILA!!

Note: I did not do this alone and when I say I, I mean Charlie and myself. I am horrible at hanging pictures and could not do it without him!

It's Football Time!

September 6,  2014

Charlie and I started off the day with the Tripler Fisher House 8k Hero & Remembrance Run(you can read all about it in my Armylife section) and ended it with the Hawai'i vs. Oregon State game. We arrived at the game super early were we tailgated with the awesome Hawai'i fans. Nothing is better then the football atmosphere! The great part about football here in Hawai'i is the food. Normally at a football game your stuck with the generic nachos or hot dogs. Here you get the option of some yummy hot malasadas, home made churros, delicious gyros and SOOO much more. Thats my kind of football game. There was a time in the game Charlie and I thought for sure Hawai'i was done, but in the 4th quarter they made a killer comeback and lost by only 8 points. Overall Charlie and I had a wonderful time!

Tripler Fisher House 8K Hero & Remembrance Run 2014

September 6, 2014

This morning Charlie and I woke up SUPER early to go to Ford Island to do the Tripler Fisher House 8k Hero & Remembrance Run. It was such a special event to honor our fallen soldiers! Lining the race were the solders boot, an image of them, and a flag. It was such an amazing event, but also very tragic to see how many men and women we have lost. Two days before the race I was able to help set up. While putting the boots out I was able to see the soldiers close up. It was so sad that most them were so young. A good majority had their high school picture as their image. I ask that everyone prays for all of these lost heroes, for we are all so blessed they gave up their lives protecting ours. Directly after the race volunteers stayed to pick them all up and put them on the corner of Enterprise and O'Kane near the Aviation museum were they will stay until Sep 12. On Sep 11th they will have a prayer ceremony to honors the men and women. If you are near Ford Island please stop and take the time to visit the soldiers.

A Day at North Shore

Sunday August 31,2014

1. Green World Coffee Farms
2. Waimea Valley
3. Sunset Beach

 1. Today Charlie and I decided to load up the car and head to North Shore! Driving into to North Shore we always past the Green World Coffee Farm and this time we stopped to check it out. At the farm they have plenty of things from coffees to teas and even some homemade honey all locally made here in Hawaii. They also have a coffee garden so you can see how coffee is made, and a little store so you can shop. Overall we had a awesome experience here and we walked away with a coffee for me of course and a milkshake for charlie. I even scored a really cool coffee burlap bag.

 2. Once we left the Coffee Farm we did a little shopping and then drove to Waimea Valley. To go to the waterfall you take a short 30 min walk through the gardens. The gardens are absolutely beautiful!! When you reach the waterfall you can get in and swim and set right under the falls. Charlie and I just floated and enjoyed every second of it! This place is by far one of my most favorite places on the island. Luckily I remembered to bring the camera, but forgot to bring the Go Pro so I wasn't able to get the photos in the water. I am sure we will go back very soon and I will make sure to post those.

3.  When we left Waimea Valley we headed to Sunset Beach to catch the sun going down. We spread out our blanket and soaked up every bit of the beautiful scenery. We ended the night with a delicious dinner at Cholos Mexican restaurant and headed home. We had such a wonderful romantic day and I LOVED very bit of it.
